Summary: On the basis of past experience, Dr. Mujumdar decided to start a 2 year Post Graduate Programme in Telecom Management. Initially it seemed logical to conduct this new programme under the aegis of Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR). However, Dr. Mujumdar was convinced about the potential of Tele Communication & felt it was wiser to organize the courses under a new institution. This is how Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management (SITM) came into existence. At the time it was established, SITM was the first of its kind in India & first such experiment in Asia.

Admissions at SITM
Graduate from any recognized / statutory University or Institute with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Programmes which require specific discipline / subject specialization need to be checked for eligibility as given by the respective Institute. A candidate who has completed qualifying degree from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign degrees / qualifications need to be verified from AIU by the candidate before seeking admission to any programme of SIU.
