I am working in Accenture since the last one year. I graduated in 2015. I want to do an MBA but am not sure about the ideal years of experience to get before getting admission. Some friends tell me that I am already late while in some places I read that I should have 4-5 years experience before an MBA. Can you tell me what is the ideal amount of work-ex? Please help!

This is a tough question to answer. A lot depends on why you do you want to do an MBA, so let me break this up accordingly. If you want to do an MBA to change career tracks, then 1-2 years of experience is the ideal. If you want to do an MBA to accelerate your career, then 4-5 years of experience is good. If you don’t know why you want to do and MBA or are doing it just because you are supposed to do it, then 2 years is a sweet spot. Doing and MBA if you are a fresher is certainly not recommended. Similarly, after 5 years of experience, you are better off doing an accelerated or an executive MBA All of the above apply of Indian MBA programs. For MBA programs abroad, 4-6 years of experience is ideal.
